Prof. Mike Clark, Dr. Sally Priest & Dr. Sarah Colclough
ESRC funded research project

4. METHODOLOGY

Both quantitative (survey) and qualitative (interview and focus group) approaches will be utilized to improve understanding of the process of interaction with the Flood Map and how this experience affects subsequent flood-related attitudes and behaviour.

a. Online Survey:
The survey is web-based and can be found at:
http://www.view-i.com/floodmap/survey.html

If you have already visited our survey then we thank you for your time and participation.

If you haven't yet visited the survey then we would be very grateful if you could!

The information gathered through this survey will not be used for any purpose other than this research.

b. Interviews and focus Groups:
More in depth information will be acquired through interviews with the public and stake-holders. This information will complement that provided by the online survey. This research will be carried out within three UK case study areas: York, River Severn Area and Chichester.

c. Alternative Flood Map formats:
Based on the preliminary research results, alternative versions of the Flood Map will be created. Both the content and presentation of the information will be varied, providing the opportunity to examine the relative affects of these factors in the user's response to the map.
